Pixel to Metre Calculator

Convert image pixels to physical size using DPI.

1920 px at 96 DPI is 0.508 m.

How to use this calculator

Enter the pixel count and the DPI. The formula is pixels divided by DPI, multiplied by 0.0254 metres per inch. For example, 1920 pixels at 96 DPI is 0.508 metres.

Worked example

A 3000 pixel wide image printed at 300 DPI is 3000 / 300 = 10 inches wide, which is 10 x 0.0254 = 0.254 metres.

Common questions

What is the difference between DPI and PPI?

PPI describes pixels on a screen or in an image, while DPI describes printed dots. They are often used interchangeably for simple size calculations like this one.

What DPI should I use?

Use the value your printer or designer specifies. 300 DPI is common for close-up print, and large formats viewed from a distance often use less.
